Time for something different from across the pond.
A Canadian businessman’s innovative invention has caught the eye of our North American cousins; allowing him to raise £1.8million to help fund the project.
The Smartwatch is an ingenious contraption cleverly designed using electronic paper and designed to work in conjunction with Smartphone devices.
Eric Migicovsky originally wanted $10,000 for the project however, after advertising the concept on Kickstarter, soon managed to raise over a $1million.
The Pebble, which has seemingly attracted a number of people’s attention, is built with an electronic paper screen and can connect using Bluetooth technology with iPhones or Android devices.
Users can customise their watch with a variety of apps available allowing each user to own a totally tailored timepiece.
As well as its aesthetic facets, the watch can also be a tool for cyclists, joggers and pedestrians providing information such as distance and speed.
The Pebble will not be powered by traditional means and will in fact possess a battery that is expected to last around a week.
Sony has already clamoured to release a similar version and which is expected for release in April at an estimated cost of $149.99.
Surprisingly, Silicon Valley’s investors didn’t seem to buy into the device leading Migicovsky towards Kickstarter to be able to fund the venture.
One thing’s for sure, it’s only a matter of ‘time’ before we see if this timely contraption takeoff.
