Reports from the US suggest that the FBI has arrested one of the key perpetrators involved in the recent hacking of technological giant Sony’s computer systems.
Cody Kretsinger, allegedly a key component of the notorious LulzSec group of hackers had his home raided late last week.
Cody, who resides in Phoneix, is one of four people targeted across four different cities in the USA alleged in being involved in one of the largest hacking scandals in years.
LulzSec has been subject to a series of high profile this year though since July 2011 has kept a relatively low profile since police forces across the world have investigated the cyber attacks.
The method employed by the hackers on Sony is called SQL injection and according to numerous press releases on this subject, the FBI firmly believe they have caught their man despite him having deleted all data on his hard drive and PC.
As well as Cody’s arrest in Phoenix taking place, raids in 3 other states also took place from New Jersey to San Francisco.
Police forces around the world have seemingly caught key suspects following the 10 recent raids on suspects. One of the founders of LulzSec who goes by the name of Sabu on Twitter recently suggested that there are only two senior members of the group who have yet to be caught.
Some argue that LulzSec have offered a service to the industry by demonstrating the vulnerability of security systems that large corporations have, many of which holding personal details of the general public. As a result whilst LulzSec’s actions aren’t to be condoned who could argue that the outcome of such hackings means an increased standard of cyber security on a global scale.
