The popular search engine site Google has decided to try their hand at social bookmarking, experimenting
with a Bookmarks feature, Lists. The lists bookmark will help you save links which is useful for you when
planning a holiday or maybe looking for ideas for a day trip. You can then share these lists with others or you can keep them
private.
There are a number of impressive features included in the lists bookmark, making the feature very useful to Google users .
These include the ‘Star Icon’, when you perform a search on Google you will see a star next to each result, if you then click the ‘Star’ the search
result will automatically be saved to the lists bookmark.
For example, if you were searching ‘Day trips in the UK’ you could list bookmark
the search results that automatically appeal to you and then you will be able to go into the lists bookmarked page and
select the one’s you wish to create a suitable list.
If you were going with a group of friends or colleagues, all parties would be able to view this list and you
can all see the selection you have made providing your settings allow and are not set to Private.
Another useful feature with this new Google bookmark is the ‘My Lists’ on the left of your screen . Here you can add a comment or note to remind you of
what is important about each particular list. If you are sharing the list with friends they are also able to go onto this same page and leave a comment
or note that you will be able to view- but remember the lists are set to Private by default so you will need to go to settings and change to the relevant
setting for your list.A handy tool all in all.
