Well a Japanese advertising company has developed a new surface for interactive advertising in the Tokyo subway. Running as an experiment over the next few weeks, the company is using the NFC (Near Field Communication) technology to send a customers phone to a website when they hold onto the bar with their phone in their hand.
In Japan over 70 million handsets already have this technology and with telecommunications companies scrambling to install antennas in subway tunnels to ensure full coverage for the customer, could this be the next big hit in Mobile Advertising?
It is no secret that mobile devices will be at the forefront of advertising developments for companies and their websites. Is this the way to capture the customers attention as they welcome a little distraction during a crowded commute. Sounds like an opportunity for fun, experiential, relaxing and vacation-oriented brands.
