Microsoft has just updated Bing Shopping so that there are some enhancements to the product categories and the general navigation within these categories. The main specific area of Bing Shopping which has been updated is that there is now a list of product categories placed on the left side of the homepage of the Bing Shopping page. This new feature now enables users find specific items under the specific product categories.
The idea here being that it will also help users get started when searching for specific products they want to buy. The impression given from this new feature can be compared to window shopping except the windows are online and you don’t have to walk past the shops you arent interested in.
In addition to the product category lists, Bing Shopping provides users with a summary of all the information they would need about a particular product they have searched for. Included within this information are attributes such as; where to buy the product, previous user reviews and experiences with the particular product, any cashback percentage where appplicable, and individual product specifications.
Bing has also enhanced the product review section to give users the most relevant and recent opinions from other people who have previous experience with certain products. Users can now narrow down their search of particular product reviews by filtering on star ratings, so if users just want the bad reviews they can filter the star rating to 1 or they can use Bing Shopping’s “opinion scorecard” to make the decision whether to buy.
