The latest in the series of Apple iPhones include a range of features designed to streamline the user interface. Although a number of the features are already present on some of the latest smartphones, such characteristics as multi-tasking features are designed to increase functionality much like a laptop or desktop PC.
From an SEO standpoint, the most intriguing development to be outlined is the implementation of the new ‘iAd’ feature. The advertising platform will be used to place advertisements in software and applications developed by third parties.
Further to this, Apple is said to be going to allow developers to pocket 60% of revenue from the service as an added incentive. iAd marks Apple’s first attempt at penetrating the lucrative sponsored listings market, placing it in direct competition with Google’s search engine advertising model.
Apple founder Steve Jobs stated that the iPhone Operating System (OS) 24.0 will be first released for the iPhone and iPod Touch, with the same update available for the new iPad later this year. The Apple boss also went on to reveal that Apple has sold 50 million iPhones to date, with this number raising to 85 million with the iPod touch included.
Market analysts anticipate revenue from mobile advertising to rise sharply this year due to the increased capacity for devices to handle the appropriate technologies, along with the increased competition within the sector.
